The kind of indie rock that Los Campesinos! make is long out of fashion — not that “fashionable” was ever a word you’d use to describe LC! anyway — but they’re true believers are so are their fans. This year’s Sick Scenes is a fantastic, high-energy record — really every album they’ve done is. Their tour in support of it hit NYC for a sold-out show at Warsaw on Friday (3/10), and you might say they were in high spirits:

Excuse the cliche, but they really were giving it 110% up there. Everybody in the band was playing like they still had something to prove, and like Friday night was their last chance to prove it. The audience, which clearly included a lot of diehards, was eating it up. They were bouncing around, throwing their fists in their, yelling along — even for the new songs. It was one of the more enthusiastic crowds I’ve seen at an indie rock show in NYC in a while. Opening this whole tour is the great newer band Crying, who are really a perfect fit with Los Campesinos!. Both bands have a sound that’s rooted in punk, but also kinda twee, and very ambitious and unselfconscious. I’m not sure how many people in the crowd were already familiar with Crying before the show, but the band seemed to win a lot of people over. The cheers got louder and louder as their set went on, and deservedly so. Crying’s live show is better than ever. Pictures of both bands are in the gallery above.
