Kipp Stone serves up a spirited tribute to King T’Challa in his new track, “100 Black Panthers.” You can listen to the newest entry into his expansive online catalog up top.

The new song, which was created for the soundtrack for Ta-Nehisi Coates’ critically acclaimed comic book series Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet, features dark keys and background vocal sample that sounds like the beginning of Lion King. In the hook, Kipp recites the words “When I go I need a row of black limos at the service like a hundred black panthers,” before going on to say that he’s “the hero that you need but not the one you want.”

The track is as fierce and imperial as the noble King T’Challa, who acts as a guardian of the advanced African nation of Wakanda when he assumes the mantle of the Black Panther. In Coates’ comic, the Black Panther faces off against Dr. Doom and a terrorist organization calling themselves “The People.”

Last year, XXL spoke with Kip about his aspirations in the rap game, and his latest track appears to be a step in the direction he wants to go in. “I want to be the next big cult classic,” Stone said. “When you think of a cult classic, they don’t really gain a lot of commercial success or nothing like that. But everybody knows this is it, this is the guy. When you’re watching certain movies like Pulp Fiction… It’s not like a huge movie but when you mention a favorite movie you’re going to mention it. Also, I want to prove that you don’t have to be a snake to get success. I have a lot further to go but I got to where I’m at now by staying true to the people around me and staying true to what I believe. I think that’s huge.”

Kipp Stone’s “100 Black Panthers” is all set to appear on the soundtrack for Coates’ comic, which features Prodigy, Run The Jewels, Flatbush Zombies, Kweku Collins and Jean Grae. In other words, Kipp stays winning at the end of 2016. You can hear a sample of the soundtrack in the video playlist link below.
