In November, Phife Dawg’s widow, Desha Head Taylor, announced the rapper would be releasing a posthumous album slated for an early 2017 release. “His solo album will be out probably sometime during the first quarter of 2017,” she said. “We’re working on it now. He completed his entire solo album before he transitioned, so we’re excited about releasing that.”

With the one year anniversary of Phife’s passing about a month away, the album title has been revealed, Forever dropping some time soon. A new track premiered on OkayPlayer as well, “Wanna Dance” featuring Dwele and produced by Mike City, included below. The song will be featured on Forever as well as Dwele’s own Same Book…New Chapter and is the first posthumous release from Phife since “Nutshell,” produced by J Dilla, dropped in April.

Phife’s memory lives on, particularly as A Tribe Called Quest continue their return to centerstage. At the Grammy’s this past weekend, Q-Tip said during a Tribe performance, “To all of those people around the world, all of those people who are pushing people who are in power to represent them, tonight, we represent you. And we also dedicate this to our brother who’s not here, Phife Dawg.”

There’s no updated timeline for Phife’s album, but Mar. 23 will mark the one year anniversary of his passing, so it seems a good date to circle. Check “Wanna Dance” below.
