Florida police have another suspect
A second suspect has been arrested in the killing of controversial rapper XXXTentacion, who was shot and killed near a motorcycle dealership on June 18.
On Wednesday, the Broward County Sheriff’s Office announced that they arrested 22-year-old Michael Boatwright. The Broward County Sheriff’s Office claims that Boatwright was one of two men who approached XXXTentacion while he was in his car in an attempt to rob him. Boatwright was arrested on July 5 on charges. He was then served a warrant for first-degree murder while in custody.
Dedrick Devonshay Williams, who is also 22, was allegedly the other man. Williams was arrested the same week as the murder and charged with first-degree murder. Officials say they are still on the hunt for another gunman.
XXXTentacion was already popular at the time of his death. But his music has seen a huge spike in popularity after June 18th. He has been one of the most streamed artists of the last month; his two albums, 17 and ?, hit Top 5 on the Billboard charts, and “Sad!,” which now has a video, reached Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
At the time of his death, XXXTentacion was awaiting trial on a number of charges, including aggravated battery of a pregnant victim and witness tampering.
