McKelvey was arrested in 2001 for “willfully, unlawfully, and feloniously engaging in penile/vaginal intercourse with a fifteen-year-old child minor.”
According to a report in TMZ, McKelvey was found guilty on contributing to the delinquency of a minor, due to underage drinking.
South Carolina, the state where the incident took place, has no statute of limitations for sexual assault cases.
In a 2013 interview, the radio host addressed the incident. He denies the rape allegation.
“Charlamagne has spoken about this many times over the years in public, including in his book,” McKelvey’s lawyers told TMZ Thursday. “While Charlamagne has empathy for all sexual assault victims, he cannot take responsibility for a crime he did not commit.”
